What we do
Punch Taverns is the UK's leading pub operator, with an estate of over 8,400 leased, tenanted and managed outlets across England, Scotland and Wales.

Our vision is to be the pre-eminent pub group in the UK; lean, innovative and dynamic; constantly striving to provide a great service to our pubs, our customers and our colleagues; driven by a passion for excellence in everything we do.
Within the estate, over 800 outlets are managed pubs and the remainder are leased and tenanted. A key element of our corporate strategy is to raise the overall quality of the estate through targeted acquisition and disposal. Our estate comprises pubs which are leased to individuals who run them as their own businesses. Within the terms of this arrangement, the leaseholders have the freedom to develop and run their business in their own way, and this freedom is reflected within the estate through the wide variety of businesses. The majority – around 75% - are good, local community pubs, but the estate also includes, music and sport focused venues, destination dining pubs with high quality food offers and a number of specialist ethnic restaurants. We are passionate about our pubs and are committed to supporting our licensees – and to put this into action we provide high levels of support: field based business, marketing and promotional support; property management expertise; machines management; award-winning training courses and extensive investment programmes. This on-going investment in the fabric of the estate ensures that the pubs continue to meet the demands of their customers, allows lease holders to enter into joint investments to upgrade facilities and so improve profitability and supports our strategy of continually increasing the quality of the estate. The managed estate comprises of pubs which are wholly owned and operated by Punch through its managed division, Spirit, allowing the company total control over how the pubs are managed. The managed estate still benefits from high levels of business and operational support, staff training and centralised marketing. This difference in the business model presents little discernable difference to customers but offers the company the option of operating each site to its best commercial benefit when all the factors affecting its business potential are taken into account. |
