Press Release

Francis Patton, Punch Taverns’ customer services director, has been appointed to the council of the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII).

The BII is the professional body for the licensed retail sector, working to promote high standards throughout the industry.

It has around 16,000 individual members and 45 corporate supporters.  The council is made up of 30 members who are the driving force behind the BII’s policies and strategies.

Francis said: “I’m proud to have been elected onto the council and look forward to playing my part in helping the BII continue its excellent work.

“The organisation plays a crucial role in promoting the image of the industry and is a driving force behind the development of various worthwhile initiatives.”

Founded in 1981, the BII’s remit includes trying to encourage more people to enter the industry.  It also helps members to develop long term careers through training, and provides them with up to date information on key issues relevant to the sector.  The organisation also champions good employment practice and social responsibility.

John McNamara, the BII’s chief executive, added: “We’re delighted to have someone with the expertise of Francis on the council.

“His first hand experience and undoubted talent will be invaluable to us as we continue to develop our services to members and promote excellence within our industry.”
